Conversion of a Dutch Barge
Conversion of a Dutch Barge The first thing I had to do was create a 'nest' within all the destruction I'd caused that allowed not only some sort of retreat after work each day, but more importantly a space that was as cosy as possible given that I only had one fan heater even though unconnected radiators littered the room! Electricity was expensive at the marina, but it was a cost I'd just have to bear. Inevitably, due to it being the only warm place on Barge Nilaya, my living space also turned into its workshop. At least I had a loo, running water and an old gas powered hot water geyser. I didn't have a shower on board yet, so washing properly involved a trudge through the snow to use one thoughtfully provided by the marina. Most nights I resembled 'the beast from the black latrine'
